Electric advance does not stop. It is clear that sooner or later we’re all going to drive electrified cars in any of its variants, whether hybrid or 100% electric, in any of its forms or segment.
This race is also taking place in our region, a market in which a new competitor has just been added, General Motors (GM). Indeed, American society comes announces via YouTube that it will integrate into its regional offer three of the electrified SUVs that its Chevrolet equipment currently has. These are the Bolt EUV, Blazer EV and Equinox EV.
The announcement was made by Santiago Chamorro, president of GM South America, and Marina Willisch, vice president of communications, government relations and ESG of GM South America.
The two executives also shared details on the launch schedule for these future products and highlighted the offensive that the company will promote against electrification began in 2019 in South America with the marketing of the Bolt EV in Brazil.
“The next model to arrive in the region will be the Bolt EUV, which will debut in Colombia in the second half of this year. Next, we plan to offer other global models from the brand, such as the Blazer EV and Equinox EV, which are still in development in the US and expected to arrive here later.says Chamorro.

For GM, the future is electric
GM’s strategy is developed on three pillars: “Zero Accidents, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion”, objectives that it intends to achieve by 2040. To achieve this, the company is invest $35 billion in the development of 30 electric and autonomous vehicles by 2025.
“We are generally moving in this direction. An important part of this process is to make our thermal vehicles more and more sustainable until the total migration of the market to 100% electric vehicles.the only ones that do not emit any type of polluting gas,” says Marina.
GM also announced rrecently a partnership with Honda to develop more accessible electric cars for the most popular segments of the global market, including South America. This new global family of electric vehicles is expected to hit the regional market later this decade. The collaboration between the two companies also foresees the possibility of large-scale global production and joint development of batteries.
