Friends of Honor recently launched phones X7, X8 and X9, belonging to the X-series of the famous Chinese brand. The idea of the series is to be able to count on devices at competitive prices, and which have interesting features.
This week, I reviewed the Honor X8 mid-range device, which is equipped with a screen of 6.7 inches and a resolution of 2388 × 1080 pixels. Opening the box reveals a very well-designed phone, with a plastic back, and a 4-camera module next to the flash. In fact, I want to point out that the design is as beautiful as the Honor 50, with those killer colors that the brand has presented recently.
We also find the classic USB-C port, a 3.5 jack port for headphones and the on/off button.
As I said at the beginning, we have a screen of 6.7″ with FullHD+ technology and LCD, with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, which allows us to move without problems inside the mobile phone. We have vivid colors, good resolution to view multimedia content and above all appropriate brightness even in adverse lighting conditions.
The Honor X8 delivered with the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, which is composed of 8 nuclei. Moreover, it has a physical RAM of 6 GB and an additional 2 GB of additional RAM with virtual memory. The Honor Ram Turbo is very interesting, it is a technology that virtually increases the performance of the device.
As for the cameras, the X8 has four on the back, with a 64-megapixel main lens, which I have to say takes really good quality photos. On the other hand, we have a 5MP ultra wide angle lens, a macro lens and a 2MP depth lens. Up front, the camera is an acceptable 16-megapixel.
In reality, the cameras perform well in good lighting conditions, losing some quality at night or in dark locations, which is common in many models. But overall we have a good result. I also want to highlight the wide angle and the option of portrait mode photos.
If you like recording videos, we have a resolution in Full HD at 30 fps with all the cameras. I liked the ability to use the front and rear cameras at the same time, and the alternatives the photo app provides, such as “stories mode”.
The battery is equipped with 4000 mAh, supported by fast charging at 22.5 W. The truth is that we can get to the end of the day with a decent charge. In fact, it lasted me through the night with no problem and I used it constantly.
Finally, regarding its software, we have Android 11 available with a Magic UI 4.2 customization layer. L is fine.
To sum up, the mobile phone has a very nice design, with a large and well-proportioned screen. It is a slim and comfortable device to use with one hand. The cameras take photos with good resolution, it has a battery that lasts an average day, and the 90Hz helps the phone run smoothly. Recommended.
