This week, user PikPM surprised the community by releasing an awesome mod that brings Crono, the protagonist of Square Enix’s JRPG, to Nintendo’s fighting video game.

Without a doubt, the work done by the modder is impressive and can easily pass for an official project that Masahiro Sakurai and his team have been working on. Of course, we are facing a skin, so the character of Chrono Trigger will fight on the battlefield with the movements of Hero.

Still, the fan tweaked some visual effects to improve immersion and make us believe we are indeed playing as Crono. Specifically, Hero’s “Magic Burst” attack now looks identical to the Luminaire tech from the Square Enix franchise. It’s these small details that take this mod to another level.

It should be noted that PikPM is a well-known user within the Super Smash Bros. modding community. Ultimate. We say this because he is also responsible for other renowned projects such as the protagonist skins of harvest moon or Link’s original version of the first The Legend of Zelda.
