WhatsApp lets you choose who sees your profile picture, online status and personal information

The company introduced these options to Privacy Controls after several months of testing on Android and iOS.

The app has already implemented new privacy options. Now, WhatsApp allows its users to choose who can see their profile picture, their last connection, their status and the personal information included in their description.. Option that previously could only be applied to all contacts.

The company introduced these options to Privacy Controls after several months of testing on Android and iOS. In September 2021, it began allowing hiding the last login time, profile picture, and descriptive information for specific contacts in a development release for iOS.

At the end of March this year, the app expanded those options with the ability to allow certain contacts to hide the last login time and profile picture in the Android beta. Both processes were successful.

The instant messaging tool has now released these privacy options for its entire user base. Moreover, it has also integrated the possibility to hide your statuses, as announced via Twitter and explained on the Help Desk page.

WhatsApp users have the option to choose whether to give access to all WhatsApp users, only their saved contacts, their contacts except those you choose to exclude, or no one.

“Only contacts you have saved in your phone book, except those you exclude, can see your last seen time, profile picture, news section, or status” , says the app.

In addition, a few hours ago it also announced updates for the group calls feature. Today, WhatsApp also lets you mute others, message specific people, and see a banner when someone joins.
