It INECO Foundation 3rd International Virtual Symposium on Neurosciences and Well-Being ended with intervention this afternoon recognized national and foreign specialists under the general theme “Development of well-being and mental health from work and everyday life”.

To highlight the importance of the topics discussed, Dr. Mary Rock director of INECO organizations and scientific coordinator of the symposium “The reality is that most of us we spend a third of our time at work. If we think that another third should be spent on recreation, we will soon understand how important it is to develop well-being in everyday life, especially at work, which takes up most of our time.

Mental health experts have confirmed that the critical situation the world has gone through in recent years is due epidemic made evident the importance of well-being in the face of challenges.

But what is considered health? It science defines as a a skill that is cultivated and built but like most human skills, building it requires investment time and effort. Building and caring for well-being should not be done artificially, but should become a habit immersed in our everyday reality.

Dr. Roca concluded: “To compete for talent, companies and individuals must make changes to include mental health in their policies, practices, events and benefits. This change involves the efforts of all institutional actors who must also take ownership of the issue to serve as allies that promote transparency and an open environment and a culture conducive to well-being.”

Experts covered topics such as well-being as a learned skill and it is built. practices to promote well-being in the workplace; the impact of mental health on business; that future leadership; mental health and wellness a gender and generational perspective; new technologies that are allies or enemies of prosperity; concept of digital well-being; diseases of the mind and their impact on people, teams and companies, among others.

Moderator: Dr. Marcelo Chetkovic, Medical Director of INECO, Dr. Maria Laura Lupano Perugini, from the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), University of Palermo, University of Buenos Aires, gave a presentation in which some results of various studies that he carries out was a CONICET researcher.

“These are findings about what aspects, both individual and organizational, can hinder or contribute to the well-being of both employees and companies or organizations,” he said.

“The studies were based on two main approaches derived from positive psychology: positive organizational psychology and a model of healthy and resilient organizations. The importance of working along these lines of approach, as it complements the negative variables by examining the positive aspects that can arise in workers and organizations,” said Lupano Perugini.

And he continued. “An organization is positive not only when satisfactory profitable results are achieved, but also when its employees have well-being and the well-being of employees within the organization can increase. Organizational factors that can contribute to well-being. According to employees, there is a combination of two types of characteristics in a positive organization. material/instrumental factors (such as flexibility in work and pay) and on the other hand social factors (human resources).

According to these characteristics perceived by employees, according to experts, it was found that “those who perceive themselves to have low levels of job satisfaction and performance due to work performance tend to notice as predominant positive characteristics, especially material characteristics or tool type (e.g., job stability , salary, etc.). “Instead, For those who perceive themselves as average or above, they see a combination of two characteristics, not only related to having a good salary, but also quite a lot of social resources. (respect for diversity, good working environment). Levels of satisfaction and performance were consistent across employees based on their perceptions.”

Since 2007 International Symposium on Neuroscience the main purpose of discussion recent advances in brain research, addressing key areas of basic and clinical neuroscience.
