How to work remotely on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 5G: DeX and other productivity-enhancing features

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 5G is a foldable smartphone through which the South Korean company proposed an approach to the business environment. It is based on the idea that a foldable smartphone brings a larger screen and thus results in a larger workspace, you bring your favorite applications in a large format and you have an increase in productivity.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 5G πŸ”—It has a 7.6-inch foldable screen, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a maximum brightness of up to 1200 nits, a screen-to-body ratio of 90.9%. The secondary screen is 6.2 inches with the same refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection.

It’s a premium smartphone in terms of specs (Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, 5G + Wi-Fi 6e, 50MP camera with OIS, 10MP telephoto with OIS, and 3x optical zoom, 12 megapixel ultrawide + 4 megapixel with hidden sensor on the large screen and 10 megapixel with f/2.2 on the external screen).

What do you need to work remotely on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 5G?

If you want to go big screen and want a desktop-like experience, you can use a TV or monitor. You also need a keyboard and mouse that you can connect via bluetooth. Of course, you can also use the phone as a touchpad, but I don’t think it’s that practical. The keyboard has its role. The connection between the TV, monitor and smartphone can be made wirelessly, if there is compatibility in this regard, or via a USB Type-C – HDMI cable.

What impressed me the last time I used Samsung DeX?

You would expect a delay, a delay in taking orders, but everything works flawlessly. I used a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 5G with a Samsung Smart Keyboard Trio 500. I was able to write articles without feeling like there was too much of a difference from my home setup.

The advantage when working with Samsung DeX implemented on the Galaxy Z Fold4 5G, but also on other Samsung smartphones, is that you have there the usual applications specific to the Android phone, photos and videos (you no longer upload them to the cloud or still download them to the PC ). When you’re away, you have a direct data connection, no more connecting to a Wi-Fi or hotspot.

The Z Fold4 5G runs Android 12L with One UI 4.1.1. It’s an interface specifically designed for foldable smartphones, and One UI has managed to garner positive reviews for its organization, features, etc.

Samsung is working with Microsoft and Google to increase productivity. It is known that Samsung smartphones are best when connected to a Windows PC, or that Google developed Android 12L somehow specifically for Samsung and asked them to announce a foldable device every year.

Samsung Knox is another element that sets the South Korean company apart from other companies in the Android universe. And we are talking about functions that develop year after year, have experience accumulated over a long period of time.

In the new generation, they emphasized the integration with Office 365 and Teams, tools that are mainly used in the business environment.

1. Multi-Active Windows;

You can split the screen in two by swiping from left to right with two fingers. From the Edge Panel, you can choose the apps that open in this mode.

2. Drag and drop between windows;

You can perform an operation like on a computer, move the desired content from one window to another. They designed this for those times when you want to insert a link into a document or simply edit something directly from your smartphone.

3. New task bar in the database;

It is similar to what we have in Windows. You can choose the most used applications to be in that space. When you’re working in an app, the taskbar is visible and you can quickly open what you want.

4. Support for S Pen;

It was carried over from the previous generation – Z Fold3, and now you can find it in Z Fold4. The stylus plays an important role for those in a business environment, which is where part of the success of the Note series came from, for example.

5. Flex Mode;

You open the large screen of the smartphone at an angle of 90 degrees and through Flex Mode you can participate in hands-free conferences.
